The Importance Of Deliverance Ministry
Deliverance ministry should not be viewed as a separate stand-alone gift, or ministry, apart from the full counsel of the New Testament. Rather, deliverance must be viewed and acted upon in concert and harmony with "all things Jesus taught and did."
If the church is to be faithful to the Great Commission in all its wonderful fullness, deliverance, must be preached and practiced by all believers. True deliverance forms an essential element of the salvation experience. It is not an optional extra. Deliverance bears witness to the resurrection of Jesus Christ and is primarily an evangelistic activity. It is, by definition, a miraculous ministry.
Jesus said, "I am with you, even to the end of the age." This is a timeless promise. Time (in this context) is to all intents and purposes irrelevant. The "end of the age" has not yet been reached, as Jesus is yet to return. The full gospel, the Great Commission, the promises given by Jesus, the empowering Holy Spirit, all bear witness to the validity and currency of deliverance. As Christians, our goal is to be like Christ: to teach what He taught; to do what He did. In this workbook, we seek to establish Jesus' view of the importance of this ministry. It would be tragic if the church were content with following the commands of Jesus, apart from the aspect of setting the captives free.
It is our sincere hope and prayer that deliverance (Freedom) is restored as an important element of the total Gospel message and that all that Jesus taught and did is fully restored to the life of the New Testament church of Jesus Christ.
This ministry is of the utmost importance. Indeed, unless Christians are freed from the chains of personal sin that bind to the dungeon of endless defeat, the church will never fulfil it's calling to take back the nations from the kingdom of Satan, and restore them to the Kingdom of God. Christians must, as Paul declares in Ephesians 6, be able to not only face the enemy, but to stand in victory as all around us fall. This is the wonderful legacy of Freedom Ministry. Through both the Scriptures and personal experiences, we can provide you with the necessary tools to walk in this victory every day of your life.
This is more than just personal ministry to the individual; we also train individuals in the fundamentals of Spiritual Warfare, noting the importance of related areas of ministry such as Intercession and Praise & Worship. We fully believe that unless the 'five-fold ministries' work together, side by side in the church, that the church will lose the balance that we need to have if we are to be the light that this world desperately needs.
We urge you strongly to give your full attention to this ministry, giving it the same level of importance that Jesus Christ himself gave it. If it was necessary for Him to confront and defeat the enemy constantly throughout His ministry, how can we expect any less for ourselves. If Satan saw fit to attack Jesus, who was Himself protected by way of His sinless existence, how much more will he try to defeat us, who are by very nature sinful.
We have two choices in this regard; we can either act like the proverbial ostrich, pretend that the spiritual realm will not affect us, and be unprepared to deal with situations that arise in our ministries, or we can be good stewards and train ourselves and those under our care, providing them with all of the tools Jesus left them to enable victory to reign in their lives, through the wonderful and matchless grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
